Caramel Custard

The taste of this depends in the caramel which you make..If you cook the caramel for a long time then this custard will turn bitter..So make the caramel carefully.


  • Milk - 2cups.
  • Eggs - 5nos.
  • Sugar - 10 tablespoon
  • Vanilla essence - 1 tablespoon
  • Sugar - 8 tablespoon (Caramel)


Add sugar and just enough water to melt the sugar to a pan. Boil at medium flame till it turns brown. Switch off flame , pour the caramelized sugar to a pan.

In a bowl beat eggs and add sugar. Add vanilla essence followed by milk. Mix well.

Pour the mixture over the prepared pan. Steam the custard in a steamer. Check by inserting a toothpick in the center. If it comes out clean pudding is done. Switch off flame. Keep aside to cool. Place a serving dish over the pudding , turn over gently. Chill the pudding before serving.
