Potato vada

Tasty and spicy evening dish


  • Potato - 2 big
  • Onion - 2 medium
  • Besan / Gram flour / Kadalapodi - 4 tablespoon
  • Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
  • Green chilly - 1
  • Red chilly powder - 2 teaspoon
  • Coriander leaves - 1(Optional)
  • Curry leaves - 1 (Optional)
  • Salt - 1
  • Oil - 1 For deep frying


Peel potato and place it in a bowl of water till use to avoid discoloration.

Grate potato and squeeze out the moisture.

Add salt to the thinly sliced onion and mix well with your hands applying little pressure. This will release the moisture from the onion.

Add potato, green chilly, coriander leaves, curry leaves, red chilly powder, garam masala and gram flour. Mix well.

Heat oil in a pan.

Take a small portion, shape it loosely with your fingers and drop it into the oil.

Flip and cook until golden.
