Uzhunnu Vada

crispy uzhunnu vada recipe


  • Urad dal 1 cup
  • Onion chopped - 1 nos.
  • Ginger crushed - 1 large.
  • Curry leaves - 2 leaves
  • Green chili - 1 nos
  • Black pepper crushed - 5 nos
  • Rice flour - 1spoon


Grind urad dal with little water in several batches. Let it rest overnight to ferment.

Add onion, ginger, curry leaves, green chili, black pepper and salt to the batter. If the batter is watery add rice flour.

Heat oil in a pan. Rub your hands with water. Make desired shapes out of the batter and fry them.

Move to a serving dish.
